Charlotte Harbor, Boca Grande & Lemon Bay combine to form Florida’s second largest natural harbor estuary. This estuary was formed by the blending of saltwater through Boca Grande Pass and the Gulf of Mexico with freshwater from the Peace and Myakka Rivers.

This combination creates an ecosystem like no other in the state. With prevailing southwest winds off the Gulf and strong tidal currents, the area surround the harbor were thousands of years in the making. It has become nature’s maze of mangrove islands, oyster bars, and deep channels bordered by miles of fertile grass flats. These surrounding areas are called “sounds”, and support some of the best inshore and near shore game fishing in the state. With 850 miles of shoreline, 84% of which is state preserve lands and habitat, and 28 miles of sandy shoreline beaches, Snook, Redfish, Tarpon, Trout, and countless other species make Charlotte Harbor and its surrounding areas their home year round.

The sound of the ocean and the birds, walking the beaches, a couple of fishing charters and golf rounds, eating at Rum Bay or in my luxury condo, what more could you want? My condo even had Hi-Speed Internet so I could stay in touch with my office and make sure things were running smoothly while I spent a sinfully luxurious week on an Island Paradise. I already booked another week for next fall !
